    Default Traktor not-reading wma tags.

    Hello.

I imported some wma files, but traktor can't analyse the file (it says it can't read the id3-tags) -
    is this a common problem?

Maybe wma files don't have id3-tags?
If so then what other music-file types also don't have tags?

You should be using mp3, wave or lossless. All of those files carrying id3 tagging.

Windows media is super outdated hah

Yes I mostly use mp3s, have a recent album in wma format for some reason.

Do flac files have id3 tags?

    Sorry, flac = loss less.

Download audacity and you can convert and file to 320 kbps.

Wave files do not have ID3 tags. WMA is definitely more up-to-date tag wise than wave, and is much more recent than MP3 too.

Do not convert lossy files to lossy formats whatever you do. You might need Windows Media Player installed to use WMA files.

I never said to convert flac to anything. I said convert your wma to mp3.

My bad about wave, I dont rock that anyways.

And I said do not convert WMA to MP3. Lossy to lossy conversions are never a good idea.

Have you tried re-ripping the CD(s)? I'm pretty sure WMA supports some ID3 tagging. Have you looked at the files and tags in mp3tag or foobar2000? Have you tried updating the tags in those programs then importing after saving the updated tagged file?

AIFF is a lossless format as well, but supports ID3 tags much better than WAV. Not sure why your WMA files tags can't be read, but I've noticed ripping CDs that I rarely get much more than Artist and song title in WMAs that I then convert to AIFF. FLAC, while lossless is compressed. MP3 is not lossless.

I'll spare you my reasoning, but I chose to go AIFF files due to universal usability, tagging support and having lossless files.

Why so? WMA can be anything from below 128 all the way up to lossless. It depends on what the bit rate is at. If its above 320 and you convert it to 320mp3. No sound difference can be heard.

WMA isn't restricted to bit rate size like mp3(128 & 320 only).
