I tried upgrading from 1.3 to 1.4 today and was unable to do so.
I bought my vci 100 used and it came with 1.3 loaded onto it and also came with an upgrade kit and serial to usb cable.
I installed the drivers for the usb to serial cable and have been following the upgrade video to the T but I keep getting this error:
I tried switching from COM4 to COM5 in my usb to serial and it still seems to not work. I am unsure if the VCI is loading into boot mode but i following the instructions on the video exactly as they said.
Clock Frequency (External) = 24.0000MHz, Clock Mode = 0, CKM = 1, and CKP = N/A
Connecting to device 'H8/3052F' on 'COM5'

Loaded Comms DLL

Error No 15024: Boot failed
1. Start with everything unplugged
2. plug in upgrade kit PCD into header
3. Plug usb to serial cable into PCB and computer
4. With power off on the VCI plug the VCI into the computer
5. Turn VCI on it should be in boot mode
But when i look at the top of the VCI it still has lights on and the jogs are not red... Does this mean it is not in boot mode?
I am on windows 7. Has anyone gotten this to work for them?
