And Dean, no they won't. it's a different socket. The mother boards I listed are Socket 1155 motherboards, and for this processor you need an 1150 Socket.
Agreed. But it seems the OP is OK building the system up, but less confident specifying matched components - this can take out the guess work for a few quid extra - peace of mind that the finished system will work well.

Just had quick look on overclockers and found this, which seems to come in cheaper than buying stuff individually but not sure how it compares performance wise?

That's a really outdated processor (Sandy Bridge), as is the RAM (1333MHz) and the motherboard (PCI slots).

I would go with an i3 or better processor from this list (Haswell), any of these motherboards (Socket 1150, H87 chipset), and 8GB of RAM from here (1600MHz).

Overclockers don't always have the best prices so look around elsewhere for the same components e.g. on Amazon or Aria etc.

Well all purchased this afternoon. Can't wait to get it and install.

Will probably have to upgrade my HDD at some point too but got enough space for the time being

Thank you everyone for your help.

Okay, all the parts have arrived and am currently installing them now.

I have however, run into a problem, I have a front and rear fan in my case but only one sys_fan slot....I've read that you can daisy chain them into a molex so they run from the PSU but they am I right in assuming they will just run at 100% all of the time and therefore be very noisy?

Your motherboard should have more than 1 fan slot surely.

Edit: As long as your fans aren't too high power, you could run both case fans through the Sys_Fan socket with a Y-splitter:

Just the one unfortunately. Thanks for the info on the splitter.

The two fans are 12v 1.44w 0.12A, do you reckon they'd run fine?

That's a very low current draw so it should be fine. I can't find any specs in the manual for your mobo but people have been throwing around figures like 0.5A and 1A as the limit for fan headers on older motherboards.
