Are control vinyls compatible with hardware or software?

I'm looking to buy a torq interface with control vinyls, but before I do, I'd like to know if the control vinyls are exclusive to the hardware, the software, or both. For example, if I wanted to order some neon green control vinyls from serato, would I need to have serato hardware to use them, or could I use the torq interface with serato software? Would it be any diffrrent for traktor? Thanks in advance!

why not get serato or traktor since you want to use them anyway. its better to save for the right gear than to buy something cheaper and upgrade later on.
