Tap the shit out of everything you lay your fingers onto
People are going to hate you for it, you are going to be put into a mental asylum, and you'll go insane.
BUT YOU SHALL NOT GIVE UP!
I tap on dashboards, office desk, telephone keypads, my wife, basically everything i lay my hands on.

If a guy really wants to start doing it and he has never done it in his life, start with lower-bpm tunes, put on headphones and, for example, on one hand try to follow the kick rhythm with your fingers, and with the other hand try to follow the snares at the same time. This is very basic and initiatory but it will start to teach the brain to focus on two beats at the same time, and as time goes by it could start to be natural for you. Once you "master" it, you could switch to a drum machine controller (if you just want to see if that is for you, buy an Akai LPD 8 or the MPD 18: it has nice pads and it's good for starting). And always take it easy, one step after another. Don't want to turn a Jeremy Ellis from night to day
I used this vid for years to help my guitar/piano playing.
