The whole point of the exercise is to convince people that this is a replacement for the 1210.

The price, the look, the feature set are all so similar to Technics for that purpose. Pioneer have been very clever in this regard.

They don't want people deriding the decks cus they have silly features like midi (silly in comparison to a 1210).
They don't want to give people the excuse that they are bloated and toy-like which can be said (unfairly) of other decks.

They didn't undercut the price of the 1210 as that would seem to devalue them against the 1210.

The whole point is : 'this is exactly the same as a 1210. Do you like Pioneer stuff? If yes this is the best option cus it's the same a 1210'.

They are priced highly so that people think they are getting a quality product.
A product that matches the one that is no longer in production.
These decks will never come down in price. They will remain high to reinforce the perception that they are 'the only' quality deck in production. Kids can afford them not just the high end user. Kids will spend their college grants on them. They will be on their Xmas lists.
The Pioneer koolaid will be swigged down like fat kids drinking supersized cola cups in McDonalds.

So for someone who's never owned turntables and is going to buy a pair, should he/she buy (money not being an option): the PLX-1000, old Technics, or Str8-150s? Also, this person would have no idea what to look for in a used turntable and no one to accompany him/her with knowledge on turntables. Totally hypothetical here.

Who knows??? For all we know, these new Pio decks are a piece of shit that will die after a week of use...

    Time will tell...

Personally, I would hold out for a good pair of used 1200's/1210's.

No problem, frankle! Life has gotten in the way here, too. I think I've mixed for a total of around 20mins in the last few weeks!

    Calling Mojaxx:

We need a direct comparison video between RP 7000's and the PLX 1000's if you can make it happen.

I'd like to get a new pair of turntables for using out that allows me to leave my 1210's permanently set up at home. I'm struggling to see the price difference justification between the PLX and the RP's.

As these are now in stock at various retailers with some even having demos has anyone actually used one yet?
What are they like compared to say a SL1210/1200 or modern alternatives such as the the RP7000 (as mentioned above)
    TSP2, Rane 64, 2x SL1210 (restored and customised), Shure M44-7 Carts, X1 Mk 2, Launchpad.

Ive seen a few die so far, including one of the two for sale (used) at a local guitar Center. I walked in and turned both on. One of em stopped playing like 10 seconds after. Then the motor started kicking on and off. I pointed out and the pro audio guy pulled it off the shelf. I have absolutely no confidence in the plx1000's.
