Not amusing, just sad...
I'd say neither...
It makes my inner music lover and sell-out-hater cringe, but else there's not that much wrong with it.
The tips on the site are actually quite legit...
A little vague but probably true.Be more than just a DJ
Not really DJ specific, but definitely good advice for every start-up business.Control your spending
If you want to pay your bills with your DJing income, this is what you need to do.Treat this like a business
You hear this, all you "I'll-pay-some-gigs-for-free-to-get-some-exposure-newbies"?Get paid
Don't give in to your GAS. Clients pay for the value you create for them, they don't care that it feels so much better to be playing on DJM 900 and a a pair of CDJ2000NXS controlling Traktor when a set of CDJ/DJM 350 or an NI S4 would clearly do.Buy equipment that will make you money
When something goes wrong during the event, you don't wanna be the one claiming "don't ask me, I'm just the DJ".Learn about all disciplines of the event industry
So the adive given is definitely legit, the question is, if the rest in the book is also or if he put all the gems on the preview page and the other 70 tips are just fillers.
The only thing that makes you wonder if this guy truly understands business is that he's offering a "no questions asked" return policy for a digital product...
Do you still get the bonus Willy Waller 2006 as a thank you gift?
With a bit of common sense and knowledge, I doubt the book's going to provide much. You can probably pick up a cheap book about business basics and the information there would be similar (though not necessarily geared toward DJing).
