Default Traktor Pro doesn't write to M4A ID3 tags?!?!

Wow....This is a HUGE deal for me.

I'm surprised I didn't uncover this in any of my research.

Not only this, but I have tracks that have been analyzed. They show up in the left menu under "Track Collection" but the same tracks in my iTunes playlist show up with BPM's at "0.000".

    What gives?

I read in a thread that Rapid Evolution can write to ID3 tags...But I was reading some instructions on the Rapid Evolution site, and it said you can drag and drop songs from Rapid Evolution onto the decks in Traktor...And apparently that's how it reads them?!

That's kind of a big deal too.

Anyone find some sort of solution for this?

What ID3 tag version? Traktor Pro prefers 2.4, while many other apps prefer 2.3.

I don't know. How would I find that out?

The only thing I know is that It mostly affects the tracks that I ripped from CD in iTunes.

It really sucks, because it's almost 90% of my music collection that I can't write to.

That's weird, because I only write tags in Traktor. hm...

Have you tried replaying the track in iTunes to make it read the tags?
    It's the FAQ. Read it.

Really? Even with tracks you've ripped through iTunes? Because after staying up all night researching, it seems like a lot of people have this problem with Traktor in regards to tracks ripped in iTunes. It's almost enough for me to go back to my Torq + Xponent combo.

A lot of the tracks I ripped through iTunes have BPM's that show up as "0.000". Or even when I load them, Traktor says "cannot write to ID3 tags".

I have tracks in iTunes that have already been analyzed, but when I go into my iTunes playlist through Traktor, all the BPM's for the VERY SAME tracks read: 0.000

Somebody help before I go back to Torq...

Yeah, even with tracks I've ripped in iTunes.

You can convert them to mp3 in iTunes, though. It might be the m4A

    hmmm, I don't get this.

My tracks are either 320kbps mp3 that I've bought, or 256 aac that I've ripped.

Traktor Pro 1.2 seems to cope no sweat ...

I'm off out now but I'll work out how I did it and get back to you

Very simply, if you havent got Quick Time installed Traktor cannot play M4a tracks.

This is clearly stated in the Traktor Manual but im guessing you havent read it.

    Just sayin'
