I think I've seen the film about 3 times and I read the book a few years back. Honestly I think the book has more of an impact than the film, just because of the writing style. It's really cool but affecting how the it progresses with the decay of the main character's mental state.

Solid list there, going to have to note the few of those I've not seen.

Also, just watched The Machine this weekend, was pretty damn good, although I have issues with the ending and feel as though the last part of the film was a bit rushed from a plot perspective.

Also on the note of Dune, I really don't think it would be possible to do those books justice without making it an expansive multi-season TV show, and even then it would need a ridiculous budget. That documentary on the dune film that didn't get made, Jodorowsky's Dune, looks interesting though and some of the concept art I've seen is absolutely mind-blowing.
I mean, just look at some of it!

    My personal favourites
    Star Wars (the original trilogy)
    The Matrix
    Iron Sky

    Also some challengers
Star Wreck VI: In The Pirkinning (JUST PLAIN AWESOME parody, watch it if you can find it with english subtitles or if you know Finnish)
Iron Sky (Made by same guys as Star Wreck but with huge budget)
Serenity (I really loved Firefly also, but it's not a movie)
Star Wars II, III (I enjoyed them even though they're not as good as the originals)
    CMD MM-1 - CMD PL-1 - Traktor Kontrol X1 Mk2 - Traktor Kontrol F1 - NI Komplete Audio 6/Traktor Audio 2 Mk2

I think people are way too critical of the last star war films they were quite good films for what they were.

Although I could have done without jar jar binks what the f was that about.
