My friend is using a Surge Protector when using his equipment on clubs.
Do you guys use it? Is it an overkill or maybe even more protection like a no-break would be better?
Thanks.

A protector might help if you have poor quality electricity supply, but it won't give any protection from a lightning strike for example.

You're definitely going to want protection from this guy.

out at a gig you should ALWAYS have a good surge protector. at home i would recommend a power conditioner to fully protect your gear
A surge protector won't do shit for a poor quality electricity supply, what you need us a decent UPS as most poor power sources either drop below or spike above their nominal voltage. But you know, they're not the easiest thing to take to a gig
And Makar1, forgive me for stating the obvious but when were you last struck by lightning at a gig? Oh that's right, probably when you were doing some of these moves with your hands in the air:
Main Gig Comp - MacBook Air 11" 1.3GHz i5, 4GB, 512GB, OS X 10.12.6
Gig Gear - TSP 2.6.8 & 2.11.2, Kontrol X1mk2 (x2), D2 (x2), S5, Xone:92, Xone:PX5, CDJ-2000 (x2), DDJ-XP1 ... Rekordbox DJ 5 with a few packs ...
Plenty of studio gear and not enough time ... and a few Nexo PA systems
I always use a 4-way surge protected extension lead at gigs.
It means I always know I'll have enough (working) sockets, and as a surge protected one doesn't cost much more than one without it, there's no reason not to have that.
