Default How long should DJ Cables be?

I thinking about buying an extra USB cable for connecting my laptop on DJM mixers, how long should it be?

Is one meter ok? Or there are situations where I may need more than that?

    Thanks.

If your laptop is more than 1 metre away from your mixer, then, yes, you'll need a longer cable.

I always buy 3m cables. Just in case.

1.5 - 3m ... all good. 1.5m (5ft in americanese) is fine for me in most cases

I would have a 1m cable for "general use" and maybe one longer for "emergencies." 1.5m and 5m would be my choices for "emergency" use.

The longest USB cable I have seen is 5m (about 15ft). After that, some kind of powered repeater is needed to maintain "full speed." I have used a repeater in my office to get the printer into a nicer location.

Some DJ's act like their cables are longer than they really are.

There's nothing like buying a bunch of 1m cables and then re-arranging your studio only to find you can no longer hook up your geer!

Go with 2-3m. 1m isn't long enough if there is anything on either sides of the mixer (like CDJs, TT's perhaps?). Not to mention if your laptop has a USB on the right side and you can only place it on the right side of the booth you're screwed

Yea, I have a 2m cable here and did some imagination setup with my cdjs and mixer, 1m is way shorter than it looks.

Anyway, just bought the new cables, all 2 meters long.

    Thanks everyone!
