What about all the DJ Contest that end up paying you nothing to play at their club or festival? is that the same general practice but with a spin on it? I Have been mixing for a while but always threw my own events now looking to expand and it seems like everything that comes my way is a contest they want me to enter or a ticket exchange.

hmmm, does the contest have a prize? I did a 9 week elimination contest some time ago that was open to everyone. I ended up beating the club's hip hop dj in the finals playing house music and cutting it up. ended up with a grand in my pocket and a nine week paid residency along with $250 gift card for the local music shop..

Its usually a spot at a festival or club night and if your lucky maybe 500 on top. But these are usually pretty large festivals and nights. the last one a friend won he played first set on a night A-Track was headlining.
