    Question "Knob snap"

I have a Kontrol s2 Mk1. Last weekend I played at a party and another DJ showed me a neat trick on his Kontrol Z2 where he held the Shift button while changing the bass EQ knob and the sound did not change until he released the shift button, resulting in an instant change.
I was disappointed to discover that my Kontrol S2 did not have this behaviour out of the box, but hold out hope that some DJ Tech Tools mapping wizardry could help out!
They called this behaviour "Knob Snap" in the Kontrol Z2 manual.
A search of these forums for that term did not help.
    Thanks guys!

This "Knob Snap" feature is basically just a hold type modifier button and can be really easily created.

    Add In > Modifier / type=button / interaction=hold / value=1

But it's better to see what modifier is already assigned for Shift buttons S2 mapping - if I'm correct it's M1 for A side and M2 for B side of the controller. To test this buttons just hold shift while you take a look in to little modifier condition displays in the controller manager.

And these are commands you want to modify:

    Left Shift: Deck A
    High EQ / Fader-direct (M1=0)
    Mid EQ / Fader-direct (M1=0)
    Low EQ / Fader-direct (M1=0)
    Filter / Fader-direct (M1=0)
    Volume / Fader-direct (M1=0)

    Right Shift: Deck B
    High EQ / Fader-direct (M2=0)
    Mid EQ / Fader-direct (M2=0)
    Low EQ / Fader-direct (M2=0)
    Filter / Fader-direct (M2=0)
    Volume / Fader-direct (M2=0)

I had this kind of knobs in my BCD mapping
Also used Shift+Fader to kill EQ on my CNTRL:R

    Hi Stewe

    Thanks for the reply.
I tried to do what you suggested, but obviously didn't quite get it right!

This first line successfully set M1 modifier = 1 when the shift key is held.
The second line (highlighted) does not seem to make any noticeable difference.

    Cheers!

No worries, it appears that you have added new Keyboard mapping device... Ensure to add new Generic Device at the device menu.

The pic is very small but I think I can see that your deck assignment is set to 'Device Target'... so if you plan on using this with your S2 please make sure to assign all commands to correct decks.

    Stewe

Wow, they shrank that image down so much it's unreadable! Sorry about that!

I also tried setting setting Device Target, up the top, to Deck A, but still no joy

    Thanks for your continued support!

    Hey fluxcapacita,

That looks correct. Did you try mapping the same thing in MIDI Mode?
I'll have my S2 very soon and hopefully will be able to properly answer to your question

    Cheers,

Hi again, sorry for my slow reply on this. So I've tested it today and it seems that Default mapping indeed couldn't be override in that exact manor. The MIDI mode have worked as expected, though the Shift button isn't mappable in the MIDI Mode so you might need to use some other button than a regular 'Shift' to set up a modifier for this Knob Snap functionality.

    Default Knob Snap

Hey, could you please help me?
I have set up the snap function with the modifier, but the knob is not changing position on the screen in traktor. But as soon as I touch the not and twist it just a little nudge, that it snaps to the position.
    Why is this happening?

    Thank you!
(working in the latest traktor version with a Xone K2)
