Default Behringer CMD line already gone and forgotten? Your opinions...

They took forever to get here and now it seems (at least to me) as if nobody even cares about the Behringer CMD line anymore. I say that because I am seeing them for ridiculously low prices, both new and used. I couldn't give mine away, and I don't see much talk about them anymore.

So is it really that simple? They were anticipated for a long time and then quickly forgotten?

No flame, just a simple question.

    Please discuss.

I'm still looking to get one. I Like the idea of the pl-1. Of course I'm not sure if I really need a jog wheel or not. I might just make a midi controller with nudge buttons instead.

I never have been a big fan of them, so I don't really care if people forget about them. I've heard some bad things about the CMD's...

Guitar Center recently decided to not sell them any more and dumped them at super low prices. That might explain the resale price drop and no one wanting them. As the folks who did want them just bought them for $20-40.

I mean, it's Behringer... other than being cheap, were they really anything that DJs didn't already have with other controllers?

If you're OK with carrying around a bigger than necessary "all in one" controller to address a single workflow, then no. But some people like the idea of being able to address workflows individually. A good example is platter replacement. If you are the type of person who doesn't want or need a turntable or CDJ but likes working with a mixer, does it make better sense to bring a Twitch to a gig, or a pair of Akai AFX, or NI F1s? If you have an established DVS setup and want to control effects, cues, etc, does it make sense to bring an S4 or just an X1 or CMD DV-1?

Specifically speaking of the Behringer CMD controllers, the concept went one further by giving the user a way to connect modules - essentially allowing users to create their own "custom" controllers.
