    Default Hp envy

Check out the specs on this:

    http://store.hp.com/UKStore/Merch/Pr...t=ABU&sel=PCNB

for £899 (after discount) that sounds pretty good to me.

But - what does the same model cost in the US? Can anyone find out and let me know?

    Cheers!

I couldn't find that exact model, but try searching the US store.

Isn't almost everything cheaper in the US compared to the UK? I always see British peeps taking their summer vacations in FL leaving the malls and outlets with TONS of stuff. GBP is just so strong compared to the USD.

We don't have that crazy Denon deal though!

Something like that would go for around $1300 in new zealand (around 650 GBP)

I moved from the US to the Netherlands. A common complaint here is that the price in Euros for tech things (games, gear, etc.) is often the exact same price as it is in Dollars in the US. At first blush, this seemed a fair complaint, and I agreed wholeheartedly that this was silly.

Then, I saw a breakdown once and it all clicked into place - the difference between the value of a Dollar and the value of a Euro is almost exactly the same as the VAT tax here, and most prices include the VAT tax in them, so it's not always a matter of greedy companies charging extra, oftentimes it's just those extra taxes.

I never understood the stupidity of the price on the tag not being the total price in certain countries.
We have VAT here (GST) which is 15% but that is included in the price. Most electronics are fairly cheap here despite our islolation, due to good trade agreements and low tariffs.
