Default Outputting Traktor S4 Mk2 audio to powered speakers- stereo or mono 1/4"?

    Hi Folks,

I'm reading the connection guide below for how to connect my Traktor Kontrol S4 MKII to my two powered speakers, and in the guide (Page 4) it suggests using stereo 1/4" aux cables to XLR cables for each speaker.

    Guide: http://djtmhire.com/doc/TraktorS2S4S...ctionGuide.pdf

My question is, seeing as each speaker is receiving is mono, why use stereo cables to run audio to them? Is there any reason that the guide suggests that, and are there any drawbacks to using simply mono cables?

Let me know if you can clarify.

    Cheers,
    Wade

The Tip Ring Sleeve or TRS 1/4" is for grounding not stereo in this case. As one of the 3 pins in the XLR is for a ground also. So each connection has a positive, negative, and a ground.

it's not stereo versus mono as mentioned above but "balanced" vs un-balanced cables.
