Mappings question - use of "shift" function and combining controls...

Hi people,

in need of a little help here...

Firstly how do i program a "shift" key in the way that Ean does on his mappings?

Secondly, how do I assign more than one function to an input. i.e. using the "effects parameter" button to toggle whether a knob controls effect select/loop length etc?
