It's just an SD card. If your SD port is recessed and locks in, then you can just use an SD card.

If it sticks out, the Jet Drive might work.

Check the Sandisk Extreme Pro Sdxc or Sdhc that has 90mb/s read speed... It's almost like having an external ssd drive...

Yeah...except six times slower. They're actually slower than most decent half-recent hard drives.

I still think that upgrading the internal storage is the way to go.

Is 90mb/s quick enough for reading 4 in number .mp3 files (lets say they're 7mb each)?

90mb/s is still quicker than USB2 read speeds.

    Right?

We can all agree that SD Cards are not the BEST storage medium on the market, but, it seems, that they WILL do the job well enough. Right?

Somebody put me straighth, 'cos, if I can replace my USB2 external HDD (that takes up a USB port AND a power socket) with a tiny little SD Card (128GB or 256GB) then you can bet your ass I'm gonna do that!

Not sure I can set you straight... but I'll provide additional information!

SD card (and miniSD, microSDSDHC, miniSDHC, microSDHC SDXC, microSDXC) speed class is based on video throughput because it's the highest density... meaning the audio density shouldn't be a restriction. That's the good news.

The (possible) bad news is that the card is only one component of your overall interface. The bottleneck is typically at the IHC (I/O hub control) and its corresponding chipset. If you have a 90mb SD in a 30mb conduit, you could be in trouble. Only way to tell is to research the IHC of your computer or test it with something like HDTune or ATTO Disk Benchmark. That way, you can be sure of the whole SD interface and not just the card.
