    Default i have an idea....

i've noticed there seem to be alot of the same kind of 'newb' threads popping up regularly all asking the same or similar questions.

how about, instead of having the recommended reading sticky, having a new forum section for that kind of stuff? move the stickies there and call it 'Beginners Forum' or something? might tidy things up a bit and keep it contained?

-1 . Whos to say what is and what isnt a newb question.
Dont get me wrong i know that many questions are irritating and could be avoided by a quick look in the Traktor/Serato/VDJ manual but people need to RTFM and read the FAQs.

Im not convinced that a Newb forum wont make the General Forum elitist.
"yeah thats not a question for the General Forum move it the Newb Forum"
As a regular member i enjoy helping the odd newb out.

It takes either stupidity or guts to ask a newb question on a forum like this that is populated by some very clever people.

Call out the newb for asking a daft question (maybe) and help the newb with a genuine question but never make them feel that they cant ask however easy the answer is.

Yeah mate i totally see where your coming from though, its a good idea in principle.
A Newb section of FAQ and general advice is a good idea. Id just be wary of splitting the newbs and regulars into different 2 camps.

Also some noobs are so full of there own self importance they would just ignore the newb forum ... Bloody Kids [j/k]

    hey

yeah i think using the work NEWBIE is a bad idea will split the group to much, but I also agree that far too many people just dont read FAQ's, whether out of lazyness of because they're new to forums and don't realise that that's the first place to check for basic info.

What about if you made like a "common questions" forum section, or maybe call it "classic threads" or something. Whenever a really good thread cropped up or we had a very detailed discussion of some basic or fundamental aspect, then the thread could be moved to this section where it would be easy to find for newbies and long term posters alike?

Hopefully then people would read these threads first and most of their initial questions would be answered, and even if they somehow dont and post a basic question it'll be easy to find the thread that has a relevant info and link to it.
