Peep my mixcloud link and check banner with name and background
A little tip for anyone doing logos as a hobby (like me): USE ILLUSTRATOR.
Its so much easier to have everything aligned, and, although it does have a bit of a learning curve, you can create some really crazy logos with a lot more precision than in photoshop.
Also, Illustrator is a Vector based program, meaning that you can scale your logo to the size of a building and it still wont be "blurry" or "pixely"
I agree.

Here is one of my logos, I have other color schemes to choose from as well.

Illustrator is best choice but when working with just downloaded fonts I don't see the need... Making from scratch yes way to go hands down vector ftw
Photoshop is pixel based. it will degrade with size changes( specifically when increasing). You can use vector based and have no degradation at all because it is instructions on how a design should be drawn, not information on individual pixels.
Theoretically, you can take an image you designed in illustrator and size it to fit a football field without any sort of loss of quality and no file size bloat. Save yourself time in the long run and design logos in vector.
