IMO, case manufacturers are not producing flight cases for all-in-one controllers correctly. They are designing them the same way they always have with the old mindset of separate components being installed (i.e.: two decks + mixer) which of course need to be all connected together so they add all kinds of extra open space along the back panel for power and signal cables. They also add extra space along the front panel for access to headphone port. This all adds a lot of extra bulk and weight. Can't stand ever having a computer in front, in way of crowd/dancefloor, so flight cases with integrated laptops trays were out of the question as well (which are of course even bigger/heavier).

The DDJ-SZ is already a massive unit (34.3” x 16.5” x 3.9”), so a flight case that is as compact as possible was important (37" x 19" x 7"). Unit needs to be protected during both transport and performances, and wanted zero wasted space for unnecessary cabling and ports access, so custom designed the flight case shown below.

Removable back panel design allows power and signals cables to plug directly into back of DDJ-SZ without need to drape them all up and over fixed back panels found on most pre-made manufactured flight cases (cleaner appearance).

Installed locking Neutrik 1/4" TRS jack along front panel and wired to DDJ-SZ's headphone port which eliminated need for extra access space there as well.
