    Default Help improving my setup?

    My setup right now:

    -Pioneer DDJ SX2
    -Serato DJ (bundled)
-A pair of KRK Rokit 5s
    -Sennheiser HD25

I wish to upgrade my setup, but unfortunately, I don't think I am capable of purchasing a CDJ for a few years. So I'd stick with my SX2. I wish to start producing. Should I get the Ableton Live 9 and Maschine? And will keyboards help?

Get any 61 key midi keyboard. Since you are just starting out, you will be okay with an M-Audio. If you are using Ableotn, grab an Akai APC40 instead. More pads to play with with just the right amount of faders and knobs. Get a decent audio interface. Scarlett 2i2's are great interfaces for the money.

If you go w/ Ableton Live, get a Push - they're on sale right now too.

If you're getting Ableton (an you should) don't consider ANY hardware besides the Push.

Push + AL is simply spectacular.

while i would consider the push i would also lean towards a midi keyboard as this set up is the generic set up for any digital based studio hence versatility

    Ableton is good.
    Maschine is also good.

Watch a lot of videos on youtube looking for the workflow of people using Ableton and Maschine. Try to decide which you prefer. Buy that one, and stick with it for 4 to 6 months. Give it a good try.

A keyboard will help, if you play the keyboard or want to learn to at least play some chords on the keyboard.

maschine is pretty cool. a friend of mine uses it and can produce tracks left and right. if you can, i recommend doing a trial to see which one best suits you. ableton tends to be complex at first glance (i am only getting used to it now after a year). maschine seems to be more simple.
