    Default Rotary Knob Modification

So with Rane's new Mixer being super awesome I kind of want to give the whole Rotary mixer thing a try. But for over $2000 I can't really get behind it. So has anyone done an in-depth guide to modifying a 4 channel mixer to use rotary faders instead of line faders. I use a DN X1600 if that helps. This whole post seems like its kind of confusing. Sorry about that.

There is a Rane Empath rotary for sale in the buy/sell section FYI.

Other option for less than 2000$ is to buy a used DJM-800 and a rotary kit for it. There is no such modification for Denon mixers.

There is a BIG difference in adding a official rotary kit (like with the DJM-800 and DJC-800RV kit), which is plug-n-play and doing a "hack" like on the denon in the link. Unless you own a denon x1600 with broken line faders - it's not worth it in my opinion.
But, I would like to se a official rotary kit for the Denon top of the line X1700

and why is that? because of the price? or the fact that is written pioneer on it? faders or pots they are resistors all so if you match the value and type it's the same.

Pioneer rotary conversions are pretty straight forward. Did one on my old DJM 3000. Nice addition, but not as tight a resistance as the rane. Never heard of a kit for Denon that was authorized by them

This might be a viable alternative if you don't mind some diy: http://www.bozure.com/T0.aspx?PID=5

There is also this if you don't want to DIY: https://youtu.be/tUN8jp01nUA
... but it won't be out till the next couple of months due to an error in production. Apart from that I've heard good things; Detroit Swindle use it in their home setup.
