Had a couple issues with the USB to Serial cable, so I used a female/male Serial cable and everything worked on the first try!

Only issue I'm having now is that the right jog wheel won't send the MIDI CC, but the touch works just fine. Did I tug on one of the cables a little too hard?

First time succes upgrading to firmware 1.3
Used a HQ USB 2.0 RS232 cable (installed with software), which made a com-port from my usb.
    Running Windows Vista btw.

    Thanks people.

I upgraded my vci using a macbook pro, usb to serial cable. Worked like a charm, needed some extra tweaks in the flashing software but apart from that all is working fine apart from my right jog wheel sends out extra midi stop messages?

I ran the update from a XP os sp2, used a female to male serial cable which the firmware siftware detected immediately as on COM1. I actually had the serial cable attached to the flash module and plugged into my VCI before I plugged in USB power and switched it on, not sure if that made any difference at all though.

Flash process worked perfectly first time and the firmware has clearly changed as before when i turned it on I would only get lights on the transport controls but now I get them all over the place!

Thanks to DJTT for the kit and guidance, I am well pleased to have gone from v1.old to the newest version in one fell swoop, looking forward to rocking out with it later tonight.

Anyone in Scotland needs help with this then let me know!

Up in the Deen mate, from Cornwall originally but been up here for about 14 years, used to play at Pivo on the Calton Hill for a while in 2004, was a fair drive home after a 6 hour set!

You ever come up this way?

Got it to work on my first try!

    Macbook Pro 10.6.2
    Monoprice USB -> Serial
Prolific USB -> Serial driver (http://www.prolific.com.tw/Eng/downloads.asp?ID=31)
    WMware Fusion (Windows XP)

    1. Install Prolific Driver on Windows side
    2. Plug in USB -> Serial cable
    3. Run Device Manager and make sure COM3 appears
    4. Connect USB -> Serial cable to FW unit
    5. Connect another USB to VCI-100 for power
    6. Turn on VCI-100
    7. Run the Renesas Firmware Flasher, make sure to select COM3
    8. Success!

Imported VCI Mapping 3_4 also, and works flawlessly. Very happy with DJTT.
