Default I'm considering getting the Kontrol Z2

    Hello,

Current set up is a pair of CDJ 2000s & a DJM 800.

I'm taking on a few more private gigs (birthday parties, weddings, etc) and I find Rekordbox cumbersome for these kind of sets. Searching for certain tracks is a pain and I've also found that Rekordbox tends to crash when there are too many files in one folder or playlist.

Therefore I've been looking at getting the Z2 as I've previously owened the S4 and a Z1 so am used to the ease of Traktor.

Just wondering what the possible connection methods are? Could I go from the 2000s to the Z2 and from that to the laptop? I know HID mode is possible but my laptop only has 2 USB ports.

Anyone own the Z2 and what do you think to it?

    Thanks

    Hi,
The Z2 has USB HUB built on the back! You can plug both CDJ's directly to the Z2 and still have one free USB port on your computer.

That's good, so would the timecode CDs still be needed or would they work in HID mode plugged into the Z2 like that?

You don't need time code CDs as long as you're running CDJs in HID mode. Please watch this DJTechtools video to learn more about how to get this to work

You could also look at getting a Zomo-MC1000 to yuse with your DJM-800.

I use one with a DJM-850, and honestly, it is the best of both worlds (PIO and Traktor...)
