Default Traktor d2 question. Please help!

First, The Scenario: If we are in a club or party and the setup is with a analog mixer and two traktor`s D2 (the analog mixer is connected to the computer with a external soundcard, maybe a Audio 6, etc.).

Question: With this setup how we can do a transition or switch of computer using the Traktor D2 for the next dj? I mean, the other dj wants to use the D2 and mixer but switching laptops. Is this possible?

    1) leave one fader open (for the track that's playing) and close others. (DJ1)
    2) unplug RCA's from the channel on closed fader and plug in the second audio interface (DJ2).
    3) mix in the next track. (DJ2)
    4) close the fader on the previous track and unplug the RCA (DJ1)
    5) plug in the other channels in to the mixer (DJ2)

That would only work when you have 2 soundcards.

If you don't have 2 soundcards and you want to do a seemless takeover you'd need to bring in another source (e.g. CDJ or Vinyl) or you have a mixer with a built-in sampler and sample a short loop.

Cool thing about using modular controllers on traktor is that you can unplug everything (except the soundcard of course) and the music keeps on playing.

Thanks Stewe, but what can we do to unplug the D2 from the laptop and plug in to the other laptop (assuming that one D2 is plug through the hub of the other D2 and this one to the laptop....if i unplug the D2's the music will stop right?)

Nope. The music stops when you unplug the sound card - D2 is only a MIDI controller without an audio interface.

You would need something like the Rane Sixty Two:

"Two DJs can share the mixer, each running different software, for seamless set changes."
