Default Help with my DJ setup

    Hi,

I would like to expand my dj setup. At this moment I have a xone 92 and 2 xone k2.
I use the duo xone k2 setup without an audio interface, because a k2 has a build in light weighted soundcard.

I want to expand my setup with a maschine. But I don't know yet how to connect and what to buy.

This is what I want at the end:
    - 4 deck mixing (xone 92) coming from traktor
    - k2 is controlling traktor (song selection, fx, etc)
    - a maschine ( add kicks, claps, etc)
    - send and return effects on my xone (abelton or guitar pedal)

What extra gear do I need to have this setup at the end?
    Having a xone 92 & k2.
Advice to accomplish this is appreciated.

    Thnx,
    Sanny

    So a few questions:

-Here's what you need to know from Ean Golden about setting up Traktor and Maschine: http://djtechtools.com/2014/02/28/sy...chine-traktor/

-If you're using guitar pedals as effects in a send/return loop, Ean Golden laid out a really good video piece on it: http://djtechtools.com/2014/04/27/in...ital-dj-setup/

-If you plan on using Ableton in a send/return loop, you're probably going to want some sort audio interface to bring it all together I think(and if I'm wrong someone please correct me).

    Thank you for sharing!

It's clear how to sync a maschine with traktor.
It's not clear in which channel the maschine is playing when using 4 decks on the xone 92.

I know I have 2 extra channels, but when I'm choosing guitar pedals (delay, reverb) I'm using these 2 channels for the 2 pedals.

    Cheers,
    Sanny

I'd have your Maschine on one of the spare channels and use FX S/R on the other. If you want to get frisky, you could have Maschine + Ableton running on one with S/R chained effects from the pedals. To be honest, you could probably get a cheap MIDI surface and use VST effects in Ableton instead to save on complexity. Also, the Audio 10 is a good interface for this as it has a fifth IN/OUT for your S/R and Maschine/Ableton. That's similar to my setup.

Can you explain the ableton setup a bit more? No pedals, effects from ableton.

How do I connect it all?

    Thnx!

You run Maschine as a plugin in an Ableton channel. Run your FX on another channel. Route both OUTS to master which outputs to one of the spare Xone channels from channel 5 on the Audio 10. Route input from one of you AUX channels on the mixer into channel 5 IN on the Audio 10, and back OUT on channel 5. You're basically using Ableton as an FX unit and drum machine. You'll need a beefy laptop for this though!

Something like this? yhe difference is that I don't use Maschnice but ableton controlled by the Push and my mixer is Xone62 wich allow me to do the same thing . 4 channel Trakort 1 channel ableton drum layers and 1 channel ableton FX return. But I use 2 soundcards, 1 for trakor Audio 8 and one for ableton Komplete 6.
The routing configiration in ableton is same as describe by Happydan.

Next step is replace X1 by Xone K1 (and maybe same for F1)

1 soundcard is for the 4 decks for Traktor which go to channel 1,2 3 4 of my mixer.
1 soundcard is for the2 channels from ableton (1 for the drumsounds, 1 for the FX return from abletonFX)

I could use 1 soundcard with at least 6 stereo channle but the is not that much and they are quite expensive. I get the 2 soundcards for less than 200€. I had also a unique soundcard before this configuration but it was not so stable than now.
