Default Progressive House vs Epic Trance

Hey guys, I recently got introduced to Epic Trance and I have to say that it's really nice to mix to keep the hype up in the crowd.

I was just wondering what's the difference between Progressive House and Epic Trance because they both have the intense build up before dropping in a euphoric climax.

    Progressive House:

    Epic Trance:

Uplifting trance or as you call it "Epic trance" is just a more uplifting subgenre of trance, genres are hard to define exactly and often not agreed upon with even artist tagging their songs with multiple genres, a house track and a trance track can be very similar even so that progressive house is often described as trancey house and (perhaps as a result) the terms being used interchangeably.

I see. So it's safe to say that Uplifting Trance and Progressive House are almost the same?

No. In my opinion, progressive house has more bite. Its closer to electro house than trance.

Of course I'm talking about NEW EDM style progressive house. The last 8 years.

Because I use to be into progressive house when it sounded like this:

Now this is called tech house.

Currently very similar IMO, though loverocket is right, genres do change. (and i agree about the "more bite" thing)

Yeah what with trap evolving into Future Bass and Minimal Trap, the genres really change quite a bit.

I think when you're getting into subgenres the lines become blurred. Sometimes the name it's given is just a marketing gimmick, so it really depends on your artist. (eg. Adam K and Umek could come out with the same track, one would call it progressive house, the other might call it tech. Both are right.) That's my opinion though.
