Default is it all about the name?

    hey..

back then i produced a track (http://www.djtechtools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4838) and send it to some blogs. no response whatsoever, nothing. i then renamed the song to "Spencer & Hill - Floorfiller (Original Mix)" and send that to the exact same blogs. i totally forgot about that and today i just searched google for it and see what, it is spread widely on the net, heh. it even got an youtube video lol. : D

some people realized that this is obviously fake and not an s&h production.

now i ask myself, do people really only care about the names and not about the song in itself?

    greets

ps: if s&h will ever read this, sorry guys!

at a guess i would say it's because of a recognisable name, not the name itself - with fans being an exception to that.

as a result people are more likely to listen to it based on the name, not exclusively because of the name.

i'll admit that i'm guilty of a similar thing when mp3 shopping.

Hahaha! well done! I'm afraid that this is the case with most people, I just listen at the tracks to see if they fit my sets, your favourite producer can make an absolutely amazing track one week and the next do something you don't like at all or something that you won't play. World is shit, is all about promotion most of the time.

that's kind of funny. good experiment!

it's harder getting your foot in the door with mediocre production work, but if you've already established a name for yourself it seems like audiences are more forgiving.

look at all the big electrohouse djs from 07-08.... i'd say atleast 50% of them are putting out laughable rubbish this year, stuff i wouldn't even waste hd space on let alone playing in a dj set - yet they're still getting caned by reputable blogs because they have a recognizable name.
