Someone will do this, forget the coins are there, and close the lid

All good if you live in a country with copper coins? Pretty sure aluminium coins wouldn't work.

Aluminum is one of the best conductors, however solid silver would be the better

However this "solution" should be classed as Chindōgu

I've never had my Macbook overheat mind you, ever, even when left rendering for hours on end in Tropical heat.

Hell even my old power(cook)book never had a thermal shutdown despite almost causing a fire on my testicles!

    Love that description; Chindōgu
I will try and use it in conversation over the weekend. Many odd looking moped addon's in Jakarta. As I guess you have, in the Manilla?

Also there is a certain longevity with inbuilt fans, and with my on/off with A Macbook pro, and Air I don't relish the thought of having to get a replacement fan etc.
I may give it a go with a section of coins. I have few hundred assorted Rupiah coins laying about to test it out. May do a temperature test before and after.
And 'despite almost causing a fire on my testicles!' Bejeezus!

Replacement fans are cheap enough to get on ebay, locally the prices are insane for Mac parts. Easy to install on the old pro, however on the new ones I suspect a little more difficult. A 12" model might be the one for me in the future I suspect.

Battery bloating is a bigger issue in the severe heat IMHO - 2 of my macbook batteries swelled to the size of Dolly Partons, errr... "parts" in the past few years.

Not too many Mopeds in Manila, but plenty of weird and wonderful "enhancements" on full fledged motorbikes. It never ceases to amaze that you can hold your kids, all the neighbors kids and still have enough room for grandparents up top on a 125cc bike !
