    Default traktor: moving music files

I don't know how the traktor library works...

Where is the information of hotcues, bpm, comments, etc stored?

Is there like a database or is everything stored in tags in every file?

What happens if I move the whole the whole folder of files somewhere else? Will I mess everything up?

Is the info associated with an absolute route like c:/music/myfile.mp3 or it's more intelligent and traktor recognizes myfile.mp3 with it's length, name, artist?

    Thanks

i think with mp3s they are stored within the actual mp3 but with flacs and wavs they are stored in the database.

if you move a flac or wav therefor you would have to do thewhole relocate thing within traktor

Yeah, if you move your files Traktor will show them as missing with the "!" sign.
    Just relocate with Consistency Checker.

The info is stored in the files unless they are formats that cannot store certain info in the file tags such as flac, This info is stored in the collection.nml and the stripes folder.

So if I move the files then I'll have to do the consistency check for every file?

No mate, Consistency Checker will tell you how many tracks are missing and list them all. You will have an option to Relocate. Click that and let it do the business.
It can take a while depending on how many tracks you have cus it has to scan the whole collection.

Remember that you have to have the correct path to your Music folder in Preferences.
