Default vci 100 macbook air not being recognised

    hi

i am sitting here with a macbook pro and a macbook air and a vci 100 mk 1.

works fine with the pro. usb power - power light on then the jog wheels and other lights light up after a few seconds. data send led lights when i touch a control.

with the air i have the power light on but nothing else at all.

i don't think this is a tractor issue? can anyone help?

My internet search seems to be saying that no drivers or installation is required for the mk 1 it should just get picked up and work by OS - and then its just a matter of setting up the midi in tractor. is that right? or am i missing something basic?

    many many thanks

    Jonathan

    some progress:

tried different usb port and have jog wheels lit up

midi monitoring is showing the vci 100 as an input device

but no midi input messages are being picked up by the monitor....

    thanks

    DOH

Dodgy midi cable! replaced cable and all works.

Hopefully this helps some other dolt to not make assumptions about the basics!
