Default Recording audio from mixer through Scarlett 2i2

Hey guys, having an issue here that for some reason I can't figure out. When I am recording audio to my macbook from my mixer through the Scarlett 2i2 I am only hearing playback through one speaker. I am running the RCA to 1/4" and I am plugged into the Line Input. I am able to hear playback through both speakers with the Direct Monitor turned on. I am testing this through the quicktime audio recording. Im sure its a mono/stereo issue and is probably a simple fix but for some reason I can not get it to work right. Thanks in advance

I'm assuming your only plugged into one of the inputs on the 2i2, but your recording software is expecting / set to stereo input.

The easiest thing to do would be set the software to record in mono.

If you want a stereo recording you'll need a twin RCA to twin mono jack cable and use both inputs on the 2i2.

I thin the reason your getting stereo when using Direct Monitor might be that the 2i2 is clever enough to auto detect mono / stereo input signals.
