I think people need to see the long-run economic impact these players are going to have in the DJ tech market. Pioneer has been UNCHALLENGED in the standalone market for years. Bringing in a new, high-quality competitor will create a market shift of pricing and feature set. Yes, these Denon players are expensive. However for their feature-set, it's an incredibly great value. I am excited for Denon and hope they continue to raise their bar!

(Also check out the new Denon VL12 Prime turntables, they are just as impressive as these digital decks!)

I wish they would have recessed the platter though.

Keeping the protype design would have been enough...

Yeah, aesthetically, the prototype was much more attractive. On the Prime version (missing the dotted platter) the strobe has no function. Plus, Denon has released the specs for the Prime VL-12.....it has 0.15% Wow & Flutter!! That's a no-go!! Well, not for that price anyway.

Something new I learned about the SC5000 though.....when paired to an X1800 mixer using "Engine Connect", whichever color you have assigned to the jogwheel ring will be mirrored on the X1800's cue button. Yes, it's kinda' redundant, but it's another visual aid to know which channel/deck is related to one another. Better to have it than not, IMO.

    Beautiful

If I got more time to DJ these days, couple of hours a week if I am lucky, I'd have been all over these.. seems like a wasted investment at the moment.

Marketing speak probably. Meaning just that it has a very precise motor RPM's at any given pitch fader position, not just the center.

Sure is a marketing speak, but that has to be explained at some point, which they don't. If it is not just the center, who has it at the center only and where is that info sourced from?

    Good news.

RekordBuddy will have direct a Rekordbox-to-Engine Prime route coming with their next release - apparently Laidback Luke got an early release of it to migrate from Pio.
