Default Kontrol X1 MK1 issue with 3.0 USB HUB?

Ok, so I bought a second hand MK1, got all the updated drivers and controller editor etc. Booted up the DEMO version of traktor 2 (I have TSP2 in the mail) and noticed that the feedback on the LEDs was a bit slow. Like I'd hit FX 1 on deck 1, and it wouldn't light up to signal it being on. But if I messed with the parameter knob, it would then light up- then if I turn it off, it would just stay on until I moved the parameter again.

I bought the plugable 3.0 USB HUB that was recommended on one of the DJTT blog/articles, so maybe I'm doing something wrong?

I plugged the X1 into a non 3.0 USB and it worked flawlessly... so now I'm completely confused. Isn't USB 3.0 backwards compatible? Should I return the 3.0 plugable for a 2.0 version (or find another one?). I have a Denon DN-X1600 coming in soon, as well as an F1 and want to make sure everything is running no issues on current PC config. I haven't done the ASIO driver yet because I'm still looking for the article with the driver links etc to ensure the right one, but can this be the issue?

    Any help would be great!

    Thanks!

What sample size is your latency set at? I would guess this is a audio latency issue, not a USB one. Have you tried plugging the X1 into the computer directly?

Sample rate is 48000 Hz (using my PC internal soundcard and it won't let me change the rate). The latency is 480 (didn't change this at all).

I plugged the X1 into a 2.0 USB on my PC and it works fine, really well actually. When I plugged it into a 3.0 USB on my PC, it acted kind of wonky again.

What version of Windows? It might be a USB3.0 driver issue.

Yes I have. All drivers up to date. 3.0 drivers up to date. X1 drivers up to date. Controller Editor up to date. Only thing not up to date is Traktor bc I'm running the demo version until my TSP2 arrives.

Was it an el cheapo usb 3.0 hub, or something decent. I learned a hard lesson with one of my raspberry pi projects recently. The hub I bought was only pushing 1.5 amp after the split, leaving each port in the hub to float around 1.1 to 1.2. Thumb drives would work fine, but there wasn't enough juice for any midi devices.

I don't think it's a cheap one. It was recommended on a DJTT blog

Do you have it plugged into a USB port on your PC/Laptop?
