New XDJ-RX?

Considering purchasing EITHER:

a) 1x XDJ-RX or
b) 2x XDJ-1000 mk2 + DJM 450

The price differential is staggering however the XDJ-RX has been around for 2.5 years now and so must be due for an upgrade soon. Does anyone have any news/insight regarding this?

Naturally, I don't want to shell out for option b) unnecessarily but at the same time I don't want to pay full price for a piece of kit that may very soon be obsolete. Appreciate any helpful advice.

if you can afford the 1000s get them, the RX is a great base player but lacks many great and helpful features

Definitely go with the XDJ-RX.

I have to play on club setups quite a bit (NXS series cdjs and DJM), and I decided to pick up the XDJ to practice with at home in order to better familiarize myself with the ecosystem. One of the best decisions I've made in a while.

I was also waiting for a second iteration of the XDJ-RX, but who knows when that will happen. If you can find a good deal on a used RX, go for it--it's an amazing unit.
