    Default Advice on new setup

    Hi guys,

I want to have some advice on a new set-up I want to try out or at least I have something in my head that I want and maybe you guys have a better option.

When I play with 2/3 CDJ's I want to have a controller on the side that I can trigger loops with or one shots like claps or snares. Also I want to have the possibilities to give these shots / loops some FX like reverb or delay.

If u look to Paco Osuna or Joseph Capriati they use some snare/clap rolls or shots in there breaks to give it more energy: https://youtu.be/BcqkSUaNXoI?t=52s here u see Paco using an Ableton Push.

I was thinking to buy a NI D2 and playing with the CDJ's via Traktor and having 1 remix deck that I control with the D2 to tigger loops and one shots. And also giving them FX if i want via Traktor.

Is this possible? And what do I need? Do i need external soundcards? I'm not really into al the technical aspects of DJing so I find it hard to know what to buy and how to connect all the stuff.

I hope u guys can help me out!

That's easily doable. Even a Kontrol F1 would do the trick.

Get yourself a good USB mixer. So you avoid having to buy an external soundcard. Also, I'd recommend a midi fighter 3D and a midi fighter twister. There's some amazing mappings for them

is it possible to map a 2x XONE k2 and a Kontrol F1 to traktor? So i have 1 XOne k2 for the 3 decks, 1 Xone for controlling the effects and the kontrol F1 for the remix decks.

Yep. The F1 will be plug and play. I'm sure there are decent mappings for the K2. I'd look at getting the Xone K1, rather than K2. It's cheaper and doesn't have an audio interface (if you don't need one)

    okay thnx for the info!

Is it also possible to have one shots loaded with the F1, like I want to do some claps in the break or some synth shots? I can remember I played with a F1 once and I couldnt do an one shot, it was looping all the time.

Yes. You can have Remix Deck cells set as either one shots or loops. One shots can either be short stabby sounds like percussion or a longer sample you just want to play once. You can also use the step sequencer with the F1. Personally, I think it is better than using the S8 or D2 functions. It's still a bit clunky (especially if you're used to a proper step sequencer implementation like Ableton or Maschine), but works well enough as long as you don't expect too much.

thanks a lot! One more question =). I already have a Xone K2. So how do I setup the cables etc in the club if I want 2 Xone k2's for controlling the decks and effects and one Kontrol F1 for the remix decks. How do I connect this if I play in a club?

Depends what you mean. It also depends what equipment is there. The K2 has X:Link so you can connect them together via ethernet. What would you expect your setup to be? DJM mixer?

My setup would be 2 scenarios:

    1

    DJM 900 nexus + 2x XONE K2 + 1 Kontrol F1 - Macbook

    2

    Allen & Heath DB:2 + 2x Xone K2 + Kontrol F1 - Macbook

How do I connect this setup in the club?
I know i need an K1 controller but I already have one K2 so Im getting another one i think.
