Default How to increase effect amount from preset value (super knob)

Hi guys, first time posting on the forum. Have been reading a lot of useful posts so far and started my first mapping for the Akai LPD8. I am not familiar with all the terminology so I will try to explain my question as best as I can; please bare with me.

How can I map an FX in single mode to a knob on my Akai to increase the individual effect amounts starting from a predetermined value? I am using Traktor Pro.

I've successfully mapped one button buildups with FX in group mode like so:

    Add in > FX Unit > FX Unit Mode Selector / type-button / mode-direct / value-Group
    Add in > FX Unit > Effect Selector / type-button / mode-direct / value-Beatmasher 2
    Add in > FX Unit > DryWet / type-button / mode-direct / value-1.000
    Add in > FX Unit > Knob 1 / type-button / mode-direct / value-0.650
    Add in > FX Unit > Knob 1 / type-button / mode-inc / auto repeat / res fine
    Add in > FX Unit > Button 1 / type-button / mode-hold

Now I am bit stuck when I try to map something similar using a knob on my controller. I've tried:

    Add in > FX Unit > FX Unit Mode Selector / type-button / mode-direct / value-Single
    Add in > FX Unit > Effect Selector / type-button / mode-direct / value-Ramp Delay
    Add in > FX Unit > DryWet / type-button / mode-direct / value-0.500
    Add in > FX Unit > Unit On / type-button / mode-hold
    Add in > FX Unit > Knob 1 / type-button / mode-direct / value-0.650
    Add in > FX Unit > Knob 1 / type-fader-knob / mode-direct

In this example I want to control the filter but only increase from 0.500 to 1000 and to never go below.

    What are your thoughts?

Hi bruta8 and welcome to Forums

Easiest way would be setting a modifier mapped to your fader of choice. This modifier should have a same behavior like your FX ON commands:

    Modifier 1 / hold=1

So when you move the fader (from the bottom) the value should go to 1 instantly.

Then use this two mappings for the filter:

    1) Filter / modifier condition of: M1=0 / button / direct=0.5
    2) Filter / modifier condition of: M1=1 / fader / relative / rotary sensitivity=70% (or so, depends on your fader's resolution)

Let me know if that works for you.

    Best,

Hey Stewe, thank you so much, that worked great. I don't quite grasp modifiers yet but I'll get there.

    Happy to assist!
Feel free share your mapping once you finalize it.
