    Default New Kit Advise

    Hello Everyone,
I have recently sold my Pioneer CDJ2000NXS2 decks and DJM2000Nexus mixer, which is perhaps a big mistake lol.
I am looking for something new to get, I like the new Denon SC5000/X1800 kit but the idea of not having the laptop connected is something I can't bring myself to accept. I just like working on the laptop, getting the music, organising it all there and not have to export/save on a separate drive and just drag a tune to play (I never plan mixes and like to see the full library and pick a suitable tune to play).
I enjoy using samples and loops in my mixes, nothing too extreme or intense like the S8 or new Pioneer DJS1000, but just a few samples here and there to launch and add to the mix.
My question is, should i stay clear of Decks and go for controllers? They seem to be a better fit for what I need, and can anyone recommend a very good controller (ideally that works with Traktor or Rekordbox as i already have those but if i need to move to another software, its fine) I can purchase? I have a budget of 4k that i got from selling my old decks.
    Thank you in advance.

The Prime setup works with Serato, currently, and Traktor support is on the way.

Making the SC5000/X1800 a very expensive controller, same as the decks I had. Only reason i say this is to try think hard before committing to an expensive kit. Wouldn't a controller (4 decks) be better? Serato, Rekorbox or Traktor one would do the trick.

You need to understand... The SC5000s are as close to laptop DJing without a laptop, as you can get. You can even get 4 decks out of two players (in fact, with Serato, you can get 4 decks out of one player). I'm a Traktor-whore through and through, but I had a blast playing with them while I did my review. I even played an hour's set on the Denon DJ stand at BPM...

Thats the thing, I don't want to part with my Mac, I find it so much easier to search/scroll through hundreds of tunes to pick one to play.
I know the SC5000 has a great built in processing power, but its not as good as having a 15" screen with a playlist right there, is it?

Like I said, with those touch screens, it's as close as anything can get. You can still use the Mac to sort your playlists etc. Stick it all on a portable HDD and go! If you've got the budget for it, it's absolutely worth it. If you can, find somewhere to test them out.

I think i need to do that, test them out! will try look for a local DJ kit shop and have a play. Thanks for the info, always helpful to talk to someone about these things.
