Default Traktor Z2 - Disable Crossfader

    Hey DJTT

I've been thinking of changing my setup and getting a Z2, another F1 and a pair of turntables. I'm not a scratch DJ or someone who mixes using quick cuts and haven't used a crossfader for years. On my current setup with the MM-1 I have just unmapped it so it doesn't matter if I knock it at all whilst mixing.

However with the Z2 being a bit of a different beast I was wondering if it's possible to deactivate it. I have done this previously with an old kam mixer by taking the fader cap off, setting the fader dead centre and sticking black tape either side of it. This worked but isn't the greatest looking solution. Is it easy to open the mixer up and disconnect it?

ahh ok, is that only when using internal mixing mode though or can traktor change the settings of the mixer even when it's not connected to a computer?

Thats only internal mode. Otherwise the z2 fader is pretty simple to remove.

Can't you just go into the mapping and remove the crossfader?

He is referring to analog mode.

My inner dj technology nazi is coming through and he's screaming "there is no analog mode here, it's a digital mixer"

But to make myself useful: I cannot remember clearly but doesn't the XF curve knob, when set to sharpest curve, acts as a "thru" setting efectively disabling the crossfader?

yeah I guess it should be "standalone mode"

and I'll be pretty happy if you're right about the XF curve knob. Thanks

    ^This.

Just remove the top panel (it's magnetic) and unscrew the crossfader. Once you pool it up you will see the connector.
