Good to hear. The manual (that I did not read) apparently state that burn-in is required for best results. Few manufactures agree with that for their headphones)

The foam tips might help tame the high end (a little) but they are always going to be quite analytical - not everyones cuppa tea, but definitely my preference over massive amounts of bass drowning out important stuff.

Comply do make tips specifically for the KZ's btw if you want to go that route.

I definitely prefer the analytical / unforgiving sound. And there is detail that I was missing on my cheap ear buds. I'm just not convinced the bass is actually accurate yet.

And every speaker needs break in. No matter what the manufacturer says. I can hear it, and I've measured it in the past. It's just not as complicated as some people say. Normal use will do it. I'd just rather do it all up front and then judge them if possible.

That being said, I have no idea how balanced armatures work. They may or may not, but the dynamic drivers do.

I suppose they can still break in as there is a diaphragm inside them, but I'd hasten a guess that its the bass/mid bass side that is going to benefit most from burn-in.

I'm hearing high end details that was even missing on my Amperiors :-O They really show up any noisy audio hardware, and source material. You hit the nail on the head with "unforgiving"

So you will have given them a good 100+ hrs breaking in. Could they possibly need more breaking in? I've never done this - but I certainly will with the ZS6's.

After spending quite a few hours with them now, I think I've found my ideal EQ profile for all round listening across a broad range of Disco, House, Techno and Rock. Adjustments are still only in the 1db to 2db range with the stock silicone tips.

While I don't agree it should make a massive difference, I cant attest first hand that a 5 year old Sony V6 with thousands of hours of high volume use, sound completely different (much better) than a new pair out of the box.

The top end sharpness is controlled and bass response is better.

How much "better" any headphone will get after only 100 or so hours is really anyones guess.

My take is that you might get some change, but wasting 100 hours on it is snake oil. And that the size of the components in IEMs leaves a lot less wiggle room than over-ear drivers.
