Default A claim that DJ equipment in clubs will be replaced by iPhones and Tablets - wtf?

I saw a post on Reddit where this guy is claiming that in a few years all clubs will start ditching their CDJ's and using iPads/iPhones/Tablets instead. I understand that there are apps for tablets that you can mix tracks with and so fourth however I do not believe for a second that all clubs are going to clear out the gear in their DJ booth for a USB port. I tried to explain to him that Apple does not make professional grade audio equipment. He said that the audience doesn't know the difference and that there is no need to use real professional audio gear. I told him that I would find it very difficult to believe that in just a few years large clubs like Privilege would get rid of their equipment for a tablet. Is this some kind of growing trend that bares any truth? Just wanted to know what people here on DJ Tech Tools thought of that claim.

    He posted this link:

iPhone DJ in the Boiler Room - A fundamental truth that needs a conversation https://djworx.com/iphone-dj-in-the-...-conversation/

The reset was comments and replies made under the topic where he was suggesting that the iPhone/Tablets will be used in clubs in the next few years. The guy in the video (on the page that link goes to) is standing there swiping around on his iPhone changing tracks or mixing them apparently on the phone itself. It just looks so odd.

This is what he mentioned about Djing with an iPhone/Tablet:

The uncomfortable truth that many need to face is this — using an iPhone utilises EXACTLY the same skills necessary to fill a floor as any other technology. You watch your crowd, see what music is working, pick the right tracks, mix them at the right point for the right length of time, with the right EQ and effects, and a liberal sprinkling of loops and sample thrown in for good measure — and repeat to keep the floor full. This is DJing 101 — the gear is interchangeable in this equation.

These are the skills that will transcend all iterations, evolutions, and revolutions of tech. The human element is and will always be key, and is more important than any mass-produced box of future landfill when becoming a successful DJ.

So if you think the crowd is dancing because you’ve using a particular lump of hardware, or keeping it real with vinyl only, then this video will give you insight into how flawed that assumption can be. An empty dance floor is just as achievable no matter what setup is in front of you.

And you think Mark is suggesting mobile devices/apps are going to replace club gear?

Rock. The. Party. Bottom the line.

I think I saw that set on boiler room. I thought it was terrible. Sloppy mixes. Sloppy level control. Crowd looked lost.

But go ahead, keep playing that Iphone...

It probably will in the future. The younger generation doesn’t have the same standards that we do. I’ve tried on my ipad and don’t like the control. I’ll stick with hardware.

Do you remember the PoS belt drive turntables and crappy Radio Shack mixers we used to have? It's not about standards. It's about what you're comfortable with, pure and simple.

Of course. That was entry level stuff. Like starting off in your bedroom before you could own 1200’s and a better mixer. Looking back I don’t think I would’ve been on the main stage with that equipment. Like I said I my first post, I do believe they will be using this in the future on the main stage. Me, I’ll stick with the knobs and crossfaders. Lol

The OP form Reddit - yes he says it absolutely WILL replace CDJ's/Clubgear etc.
And furthermore he suggests that when this happens - any DJ that does not use a tablet to DJ with will be 'pushed aside' for someone that does and they will loose work.
