    Default Quick loop mapping question

I am trying to map a button for Traktor on my mpd24 to do a quick eighth note loop and stay in time. I have it mapped so it sets the correct loop length and activates loop when held but am trying to figure out how to make it skip ahead an eighth note when released. Any ideas?

no idea. But a really good question would be a usefull button to have. If I think of a solution i'll post it.

Right now I have it mapped so while the loop is active it changes a modifier and a second button will jump ahead to keep it in time. It works but having to push two buttons to do one thing is not very musical. I have a 1/16 note one as well and have to use three buttons to do the loop, jump ahead an 1/8 and then a 1/16. It would be awesome to have one button do everything. I'm trying to create an effect of a quick double or stutter like you hear a lot throughout Daft Punk Alive.

Hmmm Might be able to help with this one, I have some very strange and custom loop mappings... This may work.. Try making a when in loop modifier=1. Have the loop size+set assigned on the key (Button, Direct, value set at 1/8) and choose the modifier when in loop = 0... also map cue/loop move size (Button, Direct, value set at 1/8) to the same key and give this the modifier when in loop = 1 AND also map cue/loop move to this key (Button, Direct, Forward) also with the modifier when in loop = 1.... then you should be able to do a double tap and it should loop on first press and skip forward an 1/8 on each subsequent press...

Note this will only work when you are not currently in a loop when you first hit it! The only other work around that issue is to assign the modifiers to another key or pedal you have to hold down whilst doing your re-press.

    Hope that is of help

Thanks for the help. Turns out the beatmasher set on 1/8 or 1/16 with the rotate knob set all the way left does exactly what I was trying to do without any of the complicated mapping I had made. Now I just have fx3 set to 1/8 and fx4 to 1/16 and mapped a pad for each deck to turn on the effects.
    Thanks!

go for two smart buttons, that use the same effect (fx3 for example) but change the beatmasher set (1/8 - 1/16).
so you have a spare effect:

    button 1:
    - choose effect (fx3 - beatmasher)
    - set legth (1/8)
    - turn on fx3

    button 2:
    - choose effect (fx3 - beatmasher)
    - set legth (1/16)
    - turn on fx3

choose deck with modifiers for various decks (if you want to)

The only problem I have with direct load and effects on mapped to buttons is FX load time, I prefer to have FX recall mapped and separate on and off, specially with things like beatmasher or the load delay means it comes on at an odd place. We tried to map a direct on to turntable fx, brake so in any play mode one push would simulate 1210 power off, unfortunately when hit there were a few seconds before the brake started, could never trigger where you wanted LOL... just my 2 cents.

Good idea to have same FX with instant time difference tho

I've been rockin this setup for a bit now and it's perfect. I never use more than fx1 and 2 so having 3 and 4 set as the 1/8 and 1/16 for instant quick loops works great. Thanks for all the help.
