I was considering purchasing one of these items for $600. Is there any reasons why I should not buy this?

What would be an equivalent (both in rough price range and most of all flexibility with the different media mediums).

I have one for my mobile dj needs and its perfect the midi control is great and the ipod plug in function is perfect i have had no problem with it in the 2 months that i have it however i still use my vci100se + audio 8 for my 'controllerisim' gigs.
