    Default Need help with contollerism

So I just picked up a ex2 Arcade Fighting stick for the Xbox and Im attempting to turn it in to a midi-fighter wanna be controller, but Im not sure where to begin. I need a program to be able to map it out, unless there is a way to do it in Traktor Pro S4. Idk just hoping to hear something helpful, thanks

    hey Addictive Sounds
welcome to DJTT and to the world of controllers
i myself am new into this (digital djing) and the funny part i have been trying to mod my joysticks into sending midi signals to my DAW since ages and ... it was only yesterday that i have managed to get it working with my DAW and traktor
thanks goes to this tutorial i found by chance on google
    http://blogs.howtogeek.com/mysticgee...udio-software/
give it a try and if you still have trouble just let me know i would be happy to help

i assume your controller is usb powered if not i recommend it and go with the Chinese cheap ones they are good enough as far as i heard and have analogue which is a major bonus to control knobs and faders as for the layout you can make a custom one by making a box of your preferred material and adding your own faders and buttons which you can find for cheap in the DJTT store

Ah thanks for the reply, I would let you know if it worked, but I couldn't get rejoice to open up. Idk if its because im running a 64 bit windows 7 or if it just messed up in the install, if you ran in to this problem, let me know how you got past it, thanks again

I think glovepie will convert the signals to midi, or maybe it's midiyoke?

Have you installed Midi yoke or Maple Midi? You need either of these to get Rejoice working.

Have a look at the sticky at the top with the other programs on there. Work your way through the programs and find out which one suits you best. I have had lots of problems with Glovepie because I don't like the layout and I can't read scripts. That's not to say it's not a great program, lots of people on here swear by it, it's just not for me.

I now use Fergos Midi program with Midi Maple (Midi Yoke seemed a little user unfriendly too on Windows 7) and I have no problems with either. You can install multiple joysticks and use rotary encoders as well. Just play around with the settings until you get the midi signal coming in to Traktor.

I second the use of Fegos Midi program, its by far the best imo. I use Midiyoke along side which works perfect for me on windows 7.

I did install both Rejoice and Midi Yoke, but I couldn't get Rejoice to open up, it said it was missing a file or something weird, I reinstalled it. still didn't work. From the looks of Fergos would be a great way to use this controller, dose anyone have a download link for Fergos and Maple? I know there is that sticky post but its a little overwhelming.

    Thanks everyone for the help.

never had that kind of problem with rejoice maybe because i never tried it on a 64 bit
anyways there are lots of other midi software that can map keystrokes like glovepie which am having a hard time right now to understand :P
but yeah i think glovepie is a kicking ass software that can do it right !
let me search/test stuff today on my side and let you know what else can work fine
until then have the courage take a deep breath and dive into that sticky thread its really helpful and not really that overwhelmed :P

Rejoice wont install on windows 7 until you disable UAC (User Account Control)

You can turn this off in :
Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Change User Account Control Settings

It should now install fine. You can change the settings back once installed. This was on 32bit so im not absolutely sure about the compatibility with 64bit systems but give it a shot.
