No good controller!

Dont know if this is the right place to put this thread, but I feel its more releveant here than in the "production"-forum...

I finally decided to fulfill one of my biggest dreams. Im going to start building a studio. My plan is to use the Reason Record Duo as the heart.
At the moment Im looking in to good ways of controlling Records mixer-section with controllers. The dream would be to have something like the M-Audio Projectmix I/O, but corresponds better to the DAW-layout. Ive looked all over, but I cant seem to find any all-in-one solution containting a transport section, multiple I/O-soundcard, fader section and EQ-section.
One of my ideas is to daisychain a Behringer BCF2000 and a BCR2000, get an external soundcard and use the transport on my Axiom 25. The biggest concern for me though is that I'd have to map the BCF and BCR to the mixer everytime I start a new project or create a new mixer-channel, not that good for the workflow in other words. :P

Any ideas? How do you do it?

Also, Im on a budget, since this is still just a spare-time project (Im a music-student atm :P ).

I think your best bet on a budget is going to be something like a PreSonus StudioLive 16.4.2. Tons of functionality, and you can find refurbs for around $1700.

Thanks for the answer, but Its not what Im looking for. No EQ-section, so I'd pretty much use it in the same way as the M-Audio... But for a higher price.

Most of the DAW control surfaces don't have an EQ section in the way that you are looking for them. Most (including the Presonus) have a modal EQ section that applies to the highlighted channel.

Actually, on that Presonus there's not only a dedicated EQ section, but also dynamics, filter, and limiting. It's just not per channel.

If you want that stuff per channel, you're going to need to look at using a mixing desk instead of a control surface.

You might also want to look for used Mackie Control or HUI units. You would save BIG over the presonus desk - just make sure they work properly.

why don't you make all your midi assignement and save the project as a template. most daw have a template session that you can save and load automaticly at the launching of the daw
i don't know record but it should have one i guess
