So in March/April I'm finally getting my Xone DB4! I have a MacBook Pro and the Traktor Kontrol X1, so the things that are missing are monitors/speakers. Now I'm doing a lot of research, and I think that the KRK Rokit-serie is good enough for me. I'm not an audiophile and I just want to have good bass (it's just for home, you know; for producing I will pick other speakers) for the neighbours. I'm still going to listen in the shop itself and choose then, though, so maybe I'll end up with others than KRK's...
But now my question is, if I pick active speakers, I'll have a build-in amplifier, right? But the thing is, my father has a Marantz PM-80 from the year 1989 or something. It's a big ass amplifier and it gives really good sound (it weight is like 15 kg?). But, I'm confused.
- Should I connect the speakers to the amplifier, or straight into the DB4? Because they already have a build-in amplifier. Does the music sound 'better' when the speakers are connected to the amplifier, or doesn't it care?
- This is the back of the amplifier. Please help me out! I'm just 20, so this mixer is older than me... I see that the KRK's has RCA, TRS and XLR connections. How the hell do I connect these to the amplifier?
