I have tried mapping my MINI to traktor.(S2).i succeeded ,,,but hwne i have the DJTT s2 mapping on and the AKAI mapping on they do not work together .....also can i use the pads to work as the buttons would if it were a midi fighter? its 16 pads...
I just got my S2 last week and it's my first real piece of kit. I got an MPK Mini and Reason 5 a few months ago but production just isn't my thing. ADHD I guess. I got through the first few chapters of a book I ordered with it and lost interest.
After about a week of playing with my S2 I have discovered some limitations, mainly the fact that there are only 4 hot cues. This week I plan to mess around with samples and the loop recorder. Once I'm proficient enough with the S2 I'll create a mapping but in the meantime here are some links for you to check out:
You already created your own mapping so that video may not be of any use to you, I only posted it because you may have created your mapping wrong or left something out.
As far as the MPK Mini working like a midi fighter, I'm sure it's possible but as you know, there are only 8 pads available at a time. You can change banks for a total of 16 but it won't give you the same experience. The midi-fighter also has slick arcade-style buttons. I'm old enough to have experience playing games on buttons like that and I can tell you, the MPK Mini pads don't even come CLOSE to the feeling of clicking those types of buttons.
To be honest, I saw the midi fighter a few months back when I was researching a way to control Reason (ended up getting the mini) and had no clue what it was or why someone would even want/ need one? From what I can tell it's just a way to precisely control effects, right? Instead of turning a knob you can activate different stages of the same effect by pressing buttons? I'm definitely seeing a use for them now and will probably pick one up once I get the S2 and Mini down pat.
Hope the links help you out! Oh, can you post your MPK mapping? I'd like to reverse-engineer it. I think it'll help me create a mapping of my own.
dont waste your money with an akai mini i love it but hate it.
I like it because i need it and it was all i was willing to spend at the time but better to save up and get something better
it seems u wanna get pads
what do you want them for?
