Default Synth or an MIDI Keyboard

Would I be be better off using a MIDI Keyboard paired up with a software synth or a Synthenizer such as the Roland GAIA SH-01?

That's kind of a personal question.

If you get a hardware synth I would not be looking at anything like that and the chances of finding one synth that will cover all your needs is much slimmer. I probably wouldn't think it would be a good idea to plunge into hardware synth world just yet before you figure out what you want and need and if you have a preference towards working with one or the other.

You get a lot more for your money with software and it takes quite a bit of money to be able get a useable hardware setup and one synth probably won't cut it and you would still want to supplement it with software instruments.

Unless you have a substantial amount of cash to invest in a number of synths, I would start off with the midi keyboard & Soft synth combo. Much more soft efficient and user friendly.

Hardware synths are amazing sounding and can truly bring something to a track, but the cost far out outweighs the benefits for some one just starting out
