Default Faders are acting screwy - how to fix?

    Hi all,

My crossfader and two of my channel faders on my VCI-400SE EGE are acting screwy. For example if I have the crossfader all the way to the right the software sometimes has the fader jumping back and forth which screws everything up. Similar issue with the channel faders.

Do I need to replace the faders? If so are there any recommendations on VCI-400 EGE compatible upgrades?

Or has anyone else seen this before and do I just need to take them out and clean them or something?

    Thanks!

    Clean them first ..

A Squirt (really small squirt!) of Lubricating Contact Cleaner should do the trick unless you are particularly hard on your faders and they are literally worn out.

Servisol Super 10, DeoxIT, or 3in1 pro Contact Cleaner are some I've used in the past that I know work well.

Just squirt it into the groove (I've never turned off my gear doing this), there is no need to remove the faders or anything. Just slide them up and down for a minute after a quick burst of spray to get the contacts clean.

Thank you so much! Is this the DeoxIT you recommend? CAIG DeOxIT D100 Power Booster Metal Electric Connection Cleaner, Enhancer, and Lubricant?

I did an online search and this one appears to be drops, but they also make a DN-5 mini-spray. Will definitely give this a shot, but please help me pick the right one Thanks a million!

So I looked closely at my faders today and the only one that is acting up at the moment is the Channel B volume fader. When I have that fader at the top of the volume range, the software jumps around and flickers volume levels up/down.

It appears that the slit in the felt is wider at the top of that fader. Is that what is causing the issue? If so would DeOxIT or cleaning it in general work?

I've never dealt with this before so i don't know if the felt is causing the issue. Thanks for your help.
